Client
Thrales End provides bespoke office lets, meeting rooms and education facilities for the on-site farm. Their latest venture has seen the construction of a new classroom facility to which the Biomass boiler installed by Watt Energy will supply heat and hot water.
Driver
To diversify the already expanding business at Thrales End, the ‘farmschool’ was developed to provide an education facility for inner-city children to learn about the natural environment and modern day farming. The building was constructed with great consideration to sustainability and the environment, therefore the installation of a renewable technology to provide heating to the building was an obvious requirement.
Boiler and System
The new Biotech Elite 15kW boiler was installed as part of the new heating and hot water circuit. The boiler is coupled to a buffer vessel allowing the system to meet the building demand of 16kW, whilst also preventing boiler cycling.
The Biotech boiler was chosen due its positive reputation both in the UK and Europe. Biotech have remained consistently at the forefront of the biomass boiler field and are one of the leading companies that provide fully-automated, user-friendly boilers rivalling traditional gas and oil heating systems.
Fuel
The boiler will use locally sourced wood pellets. The pellets are suitable for all major boiler brands, large or small and meet the highest European standard EN14961-2
Watt Energy Saver offers a turnkey solution. From detailed planning, design, installation, commissioning and registration.
Upon final sign off from Ofgem, the RHI will generate an index linked income stream for the next 20 years. The first year will be worth approximately £1,800 based upon RHI payments and fuel cost savings.
CO2 Offset
The system will reduce the company’s carbon footprint by over 5,000kg CO2 per year
