Nestlé is committed to climate change leadership and has set targets to reduce direct greenhouse gas emissions per ton of product by 35% since 2005. The Fawdon site has been selected by Nestlé to act as a lighthouse for sustainability initiatives. The ambitious project is based on a holistic sustainability plan, which aims to reduce the site’s GHG emissions and water consumption by 20% and 50% respectively and achieve 10% renewable energy use by the end of 2015.
System Overview
The Solar PV system was installed across 5 roofs and a small strip of land to the rear of the site (Ground mounted). The Solar PV array consists of 1971 solar panels, connected to 18 Schneider CL inverters.
Benefits
The large standing load created by the 24 hour production process ensures that all the energy generated by the PV array will be consumed on site.
